Referring a client for one to one energy advice

In Dorset, you can refer a client for an appointment via the energy referral line – 01929 775500 (this line also accepts self-referrals).

Outside of Dorset, you will need to contact your local Citizens Advice.

Free training offer to external organisations

Purbeck Citizens Advice is funded to give free energy talks and training to front-line staff and volunteers.

Living in a cold home has significant impacts on mental and physical health, and at worst it can lead to death.  Deaths from cold homes in the UK are higher than deaths from road traffic collisions, drug abuse, or alcohol abuse, although it’s largely a hidden problem because we don’t always see our clients at home.

Help your clients save money on their gas and electricity bills through learning about:

• energy comparison searches

• different payment methods

• behavioural changes

• funding and grants for insulation and boilers

• debt write off and other schemes to help those struggling to pay to heat their homes.

We currently have funding to deliver training to front-line staff and volunteers across the following areas:

  • Dorset Poole & Bournemouth
  • Wiltshire
  • Swindon
  • West of England
  • Gloucestershire

Please contact us on 01929 775500 and ask for Ella for more details and availability.

Feedback from a cross-sector event we ran in January 2017:

“I found the training beneficial to my work and I would recommend it to colleagues and other frontline workers.  I can give more detailed specific advice and signpost people to a wider range of agencies to go to for support and advice.”

“More effective referrals and signposting as result”

“Fantastic information obtained -- big thank you”
